About the Role

Our Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the charity's financial operations, ensuring financial stability, regulatory compliance, and accurate reporting. This role plays a key part in supporting strategic decision-making and helping the charity maximise its resources and impact.
The day-to-day finance administration is undertaken by our Charity and Projects Assistant i.e. transactional work such as payments, invoices, payroll, Quick Books data. This role is more focused on financial management, and you will also have the support of a Trustee Treasurer.
Financial Management and Reporting:
● Manage day-to-day financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
● Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and produce management accounts to provide financial insights.
● Lead on year-end accounts and liaise with external auditors.
● Oversee the work of the Charity and Projects Assistant, to ensure that all
financial administration is accurate and completed on time.
Compliance and Governance:
● Ensure compliance with charity accounting regulations (e.g., Charity Sorp), tax laws, and other statutory requirements.
● Maintain financial policies and procedures in line with best practices.
● Support the Board of Trustees and Finance Committee with financial
reporting and advice.
Budgeting and Strategic Support:
● Lead the annual budgeting process and work closely with teams to manage budgets effectively.
● Provide financial modelling and scenario planning to support strategic decisions.
● Assist in the development of fundraising and income-generation strategies with financial input.
Systems and Controls:
● Oversee and improve financial systems and controls, ensuring efficient and secure processes.
● Manage accounting software and ensure records are kept in accordance with data protection and audit standards.
Requirements
WHAT WILL YOU BRING?
Proven experience in financial management within the charity or non-profit sector.
Experience working with Trustees or Board members.
Experience with grant reporting and funder compliance.
Understanding of restricted/unrestricted funds and project-basedaccounting.
Strong knowledge of charity finance regulations and reporting (e.g., CharitySORP).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
Ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial audiences.
A recognised accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) orpart-qualified with significant experience is advantageous..The most important attribute will be a passion for our cause and the desire to help young people who have experienced loss and trauma.
