How was Apart of Me born?
Apart of Me began in London in 2015, when our co-founder Louis Weinstock was working as a child psychologist at St Joseph’s Hospice in Hackney.
There, he met brave young people whose lives had been shaken by loss. In workshops with them, one thing became clear: they needed a space that felt safe, supportive, and truly theirs.
That’s when the idea for a game began to grow—something that could offer comfort, connection, and guidance in a way that felt natural.
Not everyone wants to talk to a counsellor.
Grief doesn’t always follow neat steps.
So we made something different.
Apart of Me is a game. A gentle guide. A quiet companion.
Co-designed with young people, for young people.
It’s a new way to understand grief.
