WHEN THERE ARE NO WORDS... BORROW OURS

For some young people, Mother’s Day can be really hard. This year, we are asking you to stand with young people navigating the loss of a parent so they don't have to face grief alone.

As Mother's Day approaches, the wonderfully creative young people we work with have inspired a new campaign to remind us all that, for many of them, next Sunday will not be a day of celebration but a stark reminder of the mum they have lost.

Your donation makes this work possible.
Your gift means more young people can access the guidance, community, and compassion they deserve, especially on days that hurt the most.

Cards designed by young people
for young people

This unique collection was created by young people who understand what loss feels like, for anyone finding days like Mother’s Day especially difficult.

We asked those who had lost their mums: “What did you wish someone had said to you?”
Their responses became the words on the cards.
Their artwork formed the backdrop.
A final layer of illustration was added to bring the designs together, keeping their voices at the centre.

A percentage of every card sold is donated to Apart of Me, helping us reach more young people who need support.

Abigail — Age 11 when her mum died

“Mother’s Day without a mum can feel like being out in public and seeing mums with their children, it can make me feel sad, isolated, and a bit alienated, like I’m different from most people around me.”

“Mother’s Day can be another reminder that there is something different about you.”

“Watching everyone celebrate their mums can be difficult.”

“Hearing that people are thinking of you, that you’re not alone, and that they understand you might be having a rough time today is something I would really appreciate.”

Abigail’s story is not unusual. An estimated 46,300 young people under 18 lose a parent every year, 127 every day, meaning thousands across the UK are carrying a grief that can deeply affect their mental health, education, relationships, and future.

Your donation helps ensure they don’t face it alone.

pop-up installation

A moment of reflection

We are delighted to be bringing the campaign to life in person, with a special pop-up installation featuring in selected offices of our charity partner in the week leading up to Mother's Day. Created by Elizabeth Melinek , the pop-up offers a meaningful and visible reminder of the support available to bereaved young people during what can be a particularly difficult time of year.
